Runaway Princess #12 Tunneling Palm

I still chose to maintain an Asian–inspired setting. A sculpture was reimagined in luminous blue hues to represent a holographic goddess. She is depicted as semi-transparent, glowing from within, with portions of the stone archway faintly visible through her form — a visual cue that she is tunneling in from another realm. This element proved the most challenging to render by hand, especially in balancing her ethereal presence with structural detail. The goddess extends a colossal hand to lift the princess from below, evoking imagery from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, to add dramatic tension and cultural texture to the scene. When working on such a complex composition, I naturally focused on the two central figures and grew impatient with the background elements like plants and brickwork. As a result, the initial version lacked cohesion. I later corrected these areas, but it reminded me that I still need more practice with environmental details to achieve greater overall refinement.
