Runaway Princess #4 Crimson Rising

I completed the transitional scene between Stampede Passage and Scorching Mirage using a relatively simple composition. However, aligning the perspective to cohesively integrate the princess as the focal point, the ascending hot air balloon above, and the expansive canyon in the background required considerable time and adjustment. Although the scale between the princess and the massive transport device remains somewhat exaggerated, I ultimately accepted the design for its narrative clarity. The distant canyon is rendered in luminous tones to enrich the atmosphere under direct sunlight, while the foreground mountains are intentionally darkened to emphasize the princess’s silhouette. To reinforce the urgency of her escape, small human figures—pursuing soldiers—are positioned along the canyon ridge in the midground.
