This illustration serves as a visual echo to #11 Vermillion Descent, in which Princess Jelara is seen descending the steps of an Asian temple. In contrast, this scene depicts her ascending a metallic staircase with a delicate helical structure, casting a starkly different mood. Jelara glances back with unease, as if pursued—yet what awaits her above is entirely unforeseen. Cascading from above are immense, gliding wings—whether angelic or demonic remains uncertain. Are they here to deliver judgment for what she has done to the universe? A translucent veil of dripping water catches the ambient light, adding layered reflections that enhance the ethereal quality of the space. The staircase was painted with four distinct layers to establish depth and perspective; however, the repetitive architectural forms near the top contribute little narrative value and may not be necessary.
